DUTIES & TAXES
Please note that orders shipped outside the European Union may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, and carrier handling fees charged by the destination country. These charges are not included in the product price or shipping fee shown at checkout.
Who pay's these fees?
For deliveries outside the EU, shipments are classified as tax‑free exports under German VAT law (§ 4 no. 1a UStG). This means no taxes are charged at checkout. As a result, the customer is the legal importer of record and is responsible for paying any duties, import taxes, or fees required by local authorities upon import.
When and how are these charges collected?
After your order ships, the shipping carrier (DHL) will contact you directly and request payment of any applicable import charges before or upon delivery.
Important country-specific guidance
Due to the nature of our products (silk garments) and their country of origin (China), import charges can be significant in certain countries:
Refused or undeliverable shipments
If a shipment is refused, returned, or undeliverable due to unpaid import duties or taxes, we regret that no refund or reshipment can be offered, as these charges are imposed by local authorities and are outside of our control.
