Additional import duties and taxes may apply depending on the destination country.
European Union
Orders shipped within the European Union are subject to VAT, which is included in the displayed prices at checkout. No additional customs duties apply.
United States
Orders shipped to the United States are delivered Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
This means that all applicable import duties and taxes are calculated in advance and paid at checkout. The total amount is displayed before completing your purchase.
How are duties & taxes handled?
Import duties and taxes are calculated at checkout based on U.S. customs regulations and the product classification. By completing your purchase, you agree to these charges being collected as part of your order.
YAEL collects these duties and taxes on behalf of U.S. authorities and forwards them accordingly. These amounts are not retained by YAEL.
Please note that import duties and taxes are determined exclusively by U.S. customs authorities. YAEL has no influence over the calculation or amount of these fees.
Will there be additional charges upon delivery?
No. Because duties and taxes are prepaid under DDP terms, no additional customs charges or import taxes will be due upon delivery.
All Other Non-EU Countries
Orders shipped outside the European Union and outside the United States are delivered under Delivered At Place (DAP) terms.
This means:
-
No import duties or taxes are charged at checkout.
-
The customer is the legal importer of record.
-
Any customs duties, import taxes, or carrier handling fees are determined by the destination country and must be paid by the customer upon import.
When and how are these fees collected?
After your order ships, the carrier (DHL) will contact you directly to request payment of any applicable import charges before or upon delivery.
Import duties and taxes are set exclusively by local customs authorities and depend on factors such as destination country, product category, material composition, and order value. YAEL does not determine or control these fees.
Refused or Undeliverable Shipments
If a shipment delivered under DAP terms is refused, returned, or deemed undeliverable due to unpaid import duties or taxes, the order will be considered undeliverable.
In such cases, any costs incurred — including outbound shipping, return shipping, customs duties, import taxes, and carrier handling fees — will be deducted from any applicable refund.
Country-Specific Guidance
Due to the nature of our products (silk garments) and their country of origin (China), import charges can be significant in certain countries.
For high-value purchases, we recommend reviewing your local import regulations or contacting your customs office before placing an order.
